I can speak for myself in the fact that “locally-owned” is a term that I’ve heard over and over again throughout the pandemic. A constant statement that was brought up was that at the end of the day, big corporations would be fine and be able to stay afloat. After all, they have massive budgets and funds at their disposal. Hard times are easier to manage when you’ve got hoards of resources on your side. However, the locally owned businesses were the ones who seemed to struggle the most. Some are still struggling to keep their heads above water. Others disappeared.
Believe it or not, the same thing goes in our local Nevada cannabis community. In an industry that seems to be consolidated by huge international corporations (most recently from Canada), it is fresh and familiar to still have some home-grown craft connoisseur creators in your corner. While becoming rarer and rarer, this still exists, even in a world of uncertainty. And if supporting locally-owned businesses means something to you, then we’d like to introduce ourselves. On top of all the cool things we’ve been able to do over the last 5 years, a year and a half of which was spent in a pandemic, two women are running the whole show. The COO of the company is Stephanie Magurno and the lead chemist is Bea Martinez. A women-led team is something you see less often nowadays. Especially in this industry! And I have to say it’s surely refreshing to see in a male-dominated field. Not only that but EPC has been known to employ many LGBTQ and elderly workers as well. We’re climbing our way to the top and we want everyone and anyone to be a part of the journey.

Even if you are not a frequent cannabis user, through all of this I think it is safe to restate the importance of supporting your local businesses in your community.
