Our Golden Mylk CBD
Golden Mylk CBD is a joy to have around as cold and flu season approaches. Based on the wisdom of Ayurveda, the herbs and spices in traditional Golden Mylk blends have a long history of supporting the body’s immune response. With delicious aromatic spices like ginger and cinnamon, this tincture is a great addition to your wellness routine as the seasons change. The delicious combination of spices in our Golden Mylk CBD tincture has that cozy, warm feeling of your favorite seasonal hot drink on a cool fall day.
What is Golden Mylk?
Golden Mylk originated in India and is known as Haldi Doodh, traditionally served as warm milk infused with turmeric and other spices. In India, this drink is thought to treat many ailments including colds, coughs, inflammation, aches, pains, and restlessness. In many Indian households, haldi doodh is a staple and cure-all, like chicken soup, or hot water with lemon and honey. While we definitely don’t make claims that our Golden Mylk CBD tincture can cure or prevent any diseases, it is quite delicious and it’s my personal go-to when it comes to our CBD products.
Our Golden Mylk CBD includes many beautiful spices that you would find in a comforting cup of haldi doodh, including cinnamon bark, clove bud, ginger, cassia, fennel, black pepper, and of course, turmeric. And that’s what makes it so great. For me, I’ve been taking CBD to help with my broken spine for over 3 straight years now. Traditionally, I took the pure 1000mg CBD tincture. But let’s face the facts. Some people simply don’t like the taste of pure CBD. And while I’m plenty happy with the taste, I can tell you the Golden Mylk CBD tincture is extremely tasty and delightful. It really does make for a more enjoyable experience. And everyone I’ve ever given it to agrees.
Golden Mylk CBD Tincture Ingredients Deconstructed
Tumeric
Once you’ve taken a closer look at the ingredients listed above, you’ll have a whole new appreciation for your spice rack. Let’s take a look at the ingredient that gives Golden Mylk its signature color: turmeric. The turmeric plant is similar to ginger, the flowering plant grows about two feet in height and the root is the part that is consumed. The root is often dried and ground into a rich yellow powder. Turmeric’s health properties are astounding, it has been shown to have a wide spectrum of supportive actions.
Turmeric’s primary active component, curcumin, is what gives the turmeric root its signature yellow color. Curcumin is a natural antioxidant that may provide anti-inflammatory action. It also has antimicrobial and antiviral properties as well. The antioxidants in curcumin may protect the body against damage caused by free radicals and environmental toxins that we can encounter as we go through our day.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is another great herb for supporting immunity, as it has anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties. It is a favorite herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Additionally, cinnamon is high in polyphenol antioxidants, which have anti-inflammatory effects. It also contains a prebiotic that can improve gut health.
Much like probiotics, prebiotics promote the growth of beneficial bacteria while suppressing the growth of bacteria that can cause inflammation and digestive problems. It is believed that the warmth of the volatile oils in cinnamon increases blood flow, as well as blood oxygen levels, which can be helpful when the body is working to fight off illness. Cassia is another type of cinnamon and has similar beneficial properties.
Cloves
Cloves are high in the antioxidant eugenol, which helps to reduce oxidative stress. There is also some research that suggests that compounds found in cloves might be protective against certain types of cancer. It has shown very promising results in test tube studies, revealing that clove not only reduced cancer cell growth but promoted the death of cancerous cells.
Pretty cool, but keep in mind that in those studies they were using very concentrated doses of clove oil, and more research is needed. Even so, cloves have other beneficial properties, such as antimicrobial action. This means that they help stop the growth of microorganisms like bacteria, including many common strains like E. coli, the bacteria responsible for causing food poisoning.
Ginger
Ginger has a lot of benefits for digestion. It can reduce nausea, and even help to fight off common seasonal illnesses like colds and flu. Ginger contains the bioactive compound Gingerol, which is responsible for many of ginger’s medicinal properties. Ginger is another antioxidant-rich herb that reduces oxidative stress in the body. It is helpful in reducing symptoms of nausea and settling the stomach.
Fennel
Fennel is high in potassium, folate, vitamin C, vitamin B-6 as well as antioxidants Vitamin A and beta carotene. Apart from protecting cells from free radical damage, the folate in fennel plays a role in DNA synthesis and repair, which could be helpful in preventing the formation of cancer cells. The selenium in fennel appears to stimulate T-cell production, strengthening the body’s immune response. Fennel is also high in choline, a versatile nutrient that helps with many things including improved sleep and reducing chronic inflammation.
Black Pepper
In Ayurvedic medicine black pepper is known as the “king of spices”. This is likely because it has a high concentration of beneficial compounds. Black pepper is rich in the antioxidant piperine. One of the coolest things about piperine is that it helps to make the curcumin in turmeric more bioavailable. This means the body is able to absorb and utilize more of these beneficial compounds.
This beautiful bouquet of spices combined with our CBD comes together to create a blend that gives Golden Mylk CBD the perfect entourage effects that work synergistically. While we also have a Golden Mylk 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC, some people don’t want to ingest THC for various reasons. Could be work-related, or it could be a desire to remain clear-headed throughout the day. This is exactly what we created the CBD-only version of the Golden Mylk tincture for.
Why CBD Combines so Well With the Golden Mylk Spice Blend
CBD is a cannabinoid that is very grounding in contrast to the elevating effects of THC. When the ratios are balanced, the psychoactive effects are less pronounced, making this a great tincture if you are new to working with cannabis, or if you want to make sure you are able to function if you take this tincture in the daytime. However, if THC just isn’t for you, our CBD-only version is the perfect compromise.
The body’s endocannabinoid system and the immune system have an interesting relationship. The endocannabinoid system has been discovered to be one of the gatekeepers of the immune system. It has been shown to help with preventing the onset of overwhelming inflammatory responses. Research indicates that for people with autoimmune disorders, cannabis may help their bodies suppress unhealthy inflammatory immune responses more successfully. In combination, this all makes for a delightful THC-free way to enjoy the benefits of these delicious spices and CBD as well.
