Toss the socks in the hamper and put on your sandals! It’s time for Spring! Cannatailing recipes and recipes for cannabis-enhanced, non-alcoholic beverages are growing in popularity.
As more states adopt cannabis legalization measures, and more people discover the benefits of cannabis, new ways of enjoying this plant are emerging. At the same time, more people are turning away from or reducing their alcohol consumption. Instead, they are discovering that cannatailing is a great alternative. Especially when you want an adult beverage to relax you without the hangover or other problems associated with alcohol-based cocktails. Here are some fun cannatailing recipes to brighten your springtime gatherings:
Try These Original Spring-Inspired Cannatailing Recipes
Nectarine Mojito:
This mojito-inspired cannatail brings the invigorating flavors of a mojito; peppermint and lime with the sweet springtime flavors of nectarine. Peaches will make a great substitute if nectarines are not available. This cannatail pairs beautifully with EPC’s Breathe Easy Tincture which has essential oils of peppermint, lime, cardamom, and black pepper.
Serves 4
- 2 ripe nectarines
- 16 oz coconut water (Harmless Harvest is my personal favorite)
- Juice of 2 limes
- Lime zest
- Pinch sea salt
- Teaspoon sugar
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- EPC Breathe Easy Tincture
Peel and chop nectarines into small cubes, and toss with salt, sugar, and lime zest. Set aside. In a separate pitcher combine the coconut water and lime juice. Next, take the nectarines and place them at the base of each chilled glass, so that they fill the class about ⅓ of the way to the top. Gently muddle the fruit with a wooden pestle to release the juices into the bottom of the cup. Add ice cubes to each glass. Pour the coconut/lime juice mixture over the fruit and ice. Add EPC breath easy tincture to each glass separately, according to the dosing instructions on the bottle. Stir and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
Negroni Sballato
Inspired by the internet’s favorite drink, the Negroni Spagliatto (with prosecco in it), the Negroni Sballoto is the cannatail variation. Sballoto is the Italian word for stoned. We think that the peppermint ginger and fennel in our G.I. support tincture pairs beautifully with this cannatail, but you could also substitute any of our CBD or THC tinctures, according to your preference.
Serves 2
- Juice of 3 blood oranges
- 3 oz tonic water
- 1 oz orange blossom water
- 1 ½ Cups Ice
- EPC GI Support Tincture (or EPC THC/CBD tincture of choice)
- Pinch clove
- Pinch cinnamon
- Tablespoon orange zest
First, combine orange juice, orange zest tonic water, and orange blossom water. Then combine with the clove, cinnamon, and ice. Add into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into chilled glasses, add tincture according to dosage instructions into each individual drink, and stir. Garnish with orange peel and serve.
Dandelion Strawberry Smash
The earthy base of this dandelion root ice tea, combined with the tart & sweet flavors of strawberry tastes just like early spring sunshine. This ice tea would pair beautifully with any of EPC’s ratio tinctures, or our THC tincture. Because the iced tea base will need at least 4 hours to cool, we recommend making the tea the night before if possible. This allows the tea to cool in the refrigerator overnight.
Serves 4
- 2 cups fresh strawberries
- 16 oz water
- 4 bags of Dandelion root tea
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 TB raw honey
- Pinch sea salt
- Teaspoon sugar (optional)
- Fresh basil, minced
- 4 cups ice
- EPC tincture of choice
Begin by bringing 16 oz of water to a boil, pour over tea bags, add honey and stir until the honey is fully dissolved. Then cover the tea and let it steep for at least 20 minutes before removing the tea bags. Once the tea is at room temperature, transfer it to the refrigerator to cool until ready to serve. Finally, when the iced tea is fully cooled, prepare the strawberries.
To prepare the strawberries, chop them into small pieces and combine them in a glass bowl with lemon juice, salt, sugar, and minced basil. Mash strawberries until juices are released. Pour strawberry mixture into iced tea and stir. Add iced tea and strawberries to a pitcher with ice to serve. Add your EPC tincture choice to each individual glass and stir thoroughly.
Lavender Haze Lemonade
This lovely cannatail lemonade combines the beautiful floral flavors of lavender with the bright citrus of lemon. This cannatail pairs effortlessly with our Good Night tincture, due to its blend of lavender, vetiver, wild orange, and clary sage. However, if you are making this lemonade for a daytime function, you can substitute it with one of our ratio blends or THC tinctures for a less sleepy result. This is another cannatail that will require some advanced preparation with the simple syrup. But once the syrup is made you can keep it in the refrigerator for months.
Serves 4
- Juice from 8 lemons
- 8 oz sparkling water
- ¼ cup lavender simple syrup (see below)
- Zest of 4 lemons
- Good Night Tincture
- Lavender simple syrup recipe:
- 1 cup water
- 3 TB fresh or dried lavender buds
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 cups ice
To make the simple syrup, start by bringing the water and lavender to a boil in a saucepan. Once boiling, reduce the heat, add the sugar, and stir until fully dissolved. Allow this mixture to simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool for an hour or more. Pour the syrup into a glass jar or bottle and store it in your refrigerator for future use.
In a glass pitcher, combine the lemon juice, lemon zest, simple syrup, and sparkling water and stir. Add ice. Pour into glasses, and add EPC Good Night tincture to each glass individually, according to dosing instructions. Stir drink once more before enjoying!
Keep in Mind When Crafting Your Cannatailing Recipes
We recommend adding EPC tinctures to each individual drink so that you can be precise in knowing the amount of CBD or THC that is in each beverage. This also allows guest to customize their cannatail according to their health or recreational needs. As with any ingestible cannabis product, it is important to start low and go slow with the dosing.
All of these recipes are delicious, so be sure to pace yourself, and stay hydrated. As always these cannatails should not be consumed if you plan on driving or doing other activities that require your entire presence and attention in order to be safe. Enjoy these spring cannatailing recipes responsibly!
